Introducing the Volunteer BOOST: Micro-Grant Program!

India Welfare Trust is excited to launch the Volunteer BOOST: Micro-grant program, a quick and straightforward funding to support and boost the work being done by all the dedicated volunteer managers/engagers in our community.

How much is the micro-grant? INR 1,000 per grant directly credited to the individual’s account (this is not a grant to the NGO).

Who can apply? Volunteer managers and engagers who are registered EIV Discourse users. Need not be registered organizations.

What can the micro-grant be used for?

  1. Focus on Volunteering: The grant should help to further grow/promote volunteering in your organization. E.g. rewarding your top volunteers with t-shirts or a meal or a voucher, or running a paid social media campaign to acquire more volunteers, etc. Anything that other funders would normally not support, but helps strengthen your volunteering efforts. The expenses should be one-time in nature and not recurring (e.g., no regular reimbursement of expenses, etc. that you can apply for every month). Be creative, we will try and be as flexible and understanding as we possibly can.
  2. No Direct Beneficiary Support: The grant cannot be utilized for activities that directly benefit the end-beneficiaries (programme). E.g. tickets or transport for taking children to a museum, etc.
  3. A limit of 1 micro-grant per applicant/organisation per month

What is the application process?

  1. – Please create a fresh post (New Topic). CHANGE the category from “General” to “VOLUNTEER BOOST” (please remember to do this step, otherwise your application will not be considered)
    – In the Title, say “Microgrant application from (Your OrgName)”
    – In the description let us know what you want the microgrant for.
  2. We will evaluate your application, and reply to your post with a “Yes” or “No” within 1 working day
  3. If we reply “Yes”, we will separately reach out to you for your UPI details. Thereafter, the payment will be credited within 24 hours

Is there any reporting or follow-ups after the grant? A simple post on this page, with 1-2 lines on how you used the micro-grant, the value it added and any pictures/ videos you want to share ! Knowing how you used the grant will be helpful for us to decide how to expand/modify this initiative

We hope this micro-grant program will provide a rapid BOOST to your volunteering initiatives, and help overcome those tiny funding/admin hurdles that can sometimes get in our way!

@Anusha_28 - travel allowance is a recurring expense, so we can’t fund that. If you need money for any one-time thing you want to do, please place a fresh request by replying to the main post.

@Arti - approved. @MeghaAggarwal or @kartikye.iwt will be in touch and send you the money.

@Rawjesh - these are programme expenses, so we won’t be able to support. Do read the criteria and if you have any one-time non-programme expenses, pls post a fresh request.

@alivea - haven’t understood this. What exactly will the money be used for?
