Thanks- no harm in applying, but just a quick clarification- prima facie it appears that your volunteers are doing > 200 hrs per year each on average (which is > 4-5 hrs a week). I hope this doesn’t include students doing 30 day full time internships, etc.- we do not consider those as volunteering.
Thank you for your response. This is just an average that we have taken; there are some individuals who volunteer for just an hour a week; and some who volunteer for a whole day or a week etc. No, this does not include interns.
Hi venkat
We are registered organization working since 2018
-
Can we select yes if 12A is under process and expected by end of November.?
-
Should founders be working full time?
- Sure. Pls note that if 12A is not available by December, we will have to decline.
- While this is normally expected, we might make exceptions in specific cases if the founder shows substantial commitment and there are valid reasons not to be able to do this full time. Best to explain the circumstances of 12A and founder situation in the “Anything else you’d like to add” question at the end.
Hello Sir, Request you to share the details of your current and past partners to have better understanding on the themes they have been supported by IWT. Also, it will help us to identify various issues which may be common for other organisation to implement in their areas as well.
Hi, We have adopted multi faceted approach towards volunteering where the model is around target/objective based volunteering where Info Tech professionals and Young Citizens, specifically B.Ed pursuing college students who can directly engage in education transformation projects. For e.g- Foundational Literacy and Numeracy gaps assessment for govt. school students to identify learning needs of students is carried out by volunteers and the implementation part of remedial is carried out by org. FTEs.
So in such cases, our engagement count of volunteers go up to 500 or more with 9 FTEs and hence the ratio is closer 1:50 as there are well established engagement and training & enablement models for volunteers. Considering this context , is this ratio ok for criteria consideration. Thank you.
sure, no harm in applying. Pls note that BEd students doing internships/coursework is not counted as volunteering at our end.
thank you for the revert and clarification. Yes, the Info Tech professionals as well as B.Ed students who have been mentioned work with us as volunteers itself on target focused outcomes. The B.Ed students join us completely in volunteering capacity through our awareness and reachout sessions and is not related to coursework/internship or assignments. Thanks
Our foundation provides scholarship
And skill development to visually impaired college going students throughout India. We rely on a network of volunteers to help us with our work. What do you mean by a staff volunteer ratio of 1:25? For every staff member we should have 25 or more volunteers? How important is this criteria? We would be having a much smaller ratio than 1:25.
Yes. It is important. Can be slightly lower if the ask is smaller. Remember that we don’t fund programme expenses like scholarships, etc.
Our volunteers help us to liaise with colleges and assist students to apply for scholarship and help us in our vetting process. Also in training. I understand your grant is not for scholarship. We were looking to employ additional staff to help us manage and increase our volunteer base - to help us grow to 1:25. But we are not at this ratio yet, as we employ a number of trainers for skill development, which increase our staff numbers
understood. If that ratio is currently not even 1:5 then don’t apply. If it is better than that but not yet 1:25 and you hope to get there or higher, apply.
But if you are asking about staff that manage volunteers to number of volunteers, then we have a much higher ratio than 1:25
